MRI Requesting Rights for GPs

The Australian Government as part of the MRI Expansion Initiative has extended GP requesting rights to include some region for specific clinical indications.

In November last year – GPs gained MRI requesting rights for patients under the age of 16, for a small set of clinically appropriate indicators.

As of 1 November 2013, the Department of Health further expanded access to MRI by providing Medicare funding for GP referred scans of the head, cervical spine and knee for patients 16 years and over.

Imaging @ Olympic Park has been awarded a partial licence and is delighted to welcome these studies.  Our site is equipped with two (2)  3T wide bore MRI scanners which provide the highest quality imaging for referrers, while providing quick and comfortable scans for patients.
